Keeping the Baby in Mind: Enhancing Reflective Parenting in Early Intervention
Saturday 13 November 2010
Rydges Parramatta
James Ruse Drive, Rosehill
This full-day seminar for practitioners will focus on how to help parents of young children develop the capacity to reflect on their child’s experience, to keep the child’s mind in mind. Drawing on perspectives from attachment and mentalization theory, the presentation will first describe this crucial parental capacity and establish its relevance to emotional and social development, and then outline ways to identify these processes in the clinical situation. The second half of the seminar will present strategies and techniques for enhancing parental reflective capacities, using the Minding the Baby program as a model for reflective parenting intervention.
