Introduction

The Australian Association for Infant Mental Health Incorporated is the not-for-profit professional organisation for people working with infants and their families. The objects of AAIMHI are:

  1. to improve professional and public recognition that infancy is a critical period in psycho-social development
  2. to establish and maintain discussion and exchange of information on both national and international levels
  3. to provide a forum for multi-disciplinary interaction and cooperation
  4. to provide members with access to the latest research findings and observations on development in infancy
  5. to facilitate the integration of such findings into clinical practice and community life
  6. to work for the improvement of the mental health and development of all infants and families by provision of educational programmes and otherwise
  7. to provide where possible reports and submissions to Governments, other Authorities, organisations and individuals on matters relating to infant and family health and welfare
  8. such other objects as the Association shall approve by special resolution at a general meeting.

  • Opportunities to advocate for infants at national level.

NB: membership of AAIMHI does not include membership of WAIMH.

Fees for 2012-2013

Full member: $75

Student: $45 (full-time students only, evidence of enrolment to be supplied)

Corporate: TBA

The membership year is from 1 July to 30 June. New member applications accepted on or after 1 April will renew in the next calendar year.

How to apply

Applications for membership are submitted online only - see link above. The professional referee would preferably be an AAIMHI member, but otherwise an employer or someone who can verify your suitability may be nominated.

Supporting information refers to information on your background and experience, which will help the committee make a decision on your application.

Admission as a member requires the approval of the branch committee then the payment of the membership fee.
