Louise Emanuel

10th December 1953 - 7th May 2017

It is with great sadness that we farewell Louise Emanuel, who died in London on Sunday 7th May, after a six month illness.

Louise made a stellar contribution to our field of Infant Mental Health. She brought her insightful intelligence and passion to her roles as consultant child psychotherapist and head of the Under Fives Service at The Tavistock Clinic in London, to her teaching nationally and internationally, in her writing and in her support and encouragement of an extensive network of her colleagues from all over the world.

Many will also remember Louise as a friend. One who was always curious and tireless in her energy to explore and experience the world, hospitable and generous to London visitors and fun to meet up with where-ever and when ever the opportunity arose.

Victorian and Western Australian AAIMHI members remember with gratitude the generosity Louise and her husband Ricky extended during their last teaching visit to Australia in 2012.

AAIMHI would like to honour Louise and her contribution to infant mental health, and to extend our condolences to Ricky and family.
